Professionally Clean Windows – Streak Free Every Time

Glistening, streak-free windows elevate the cleanliness and polish of any project. So, how do you achieve the sought-after crystal-clear look with minimal time and maximum results?

This proven method requires only a few essentials: A squeegee, a microfiber cloth, and quality cleaning agents.

The Squeegee: Choose a high-quality squeegee that suits the job size and check that the blade is tear-free and has the optimal amount of tension to clear the surface without streaking.

The Microfiber Cloth: These have become the staple for lint-free cleaning of mirrors and glass, have multiple clean cloths available for every project.

The Cleaning agents: Investing in high-quality cleaning solutions makes a huge difference in the outcome and can drastically affect the amount of time it takes to achieve a crystal-clear look.

Steps to achieve streak-free windows:

  1. Choose the Right Time and Weather:
    • Ideally, clean windows on a cloudy day or when the sun is not directly shining on them. Direct sunlight can cause the cleaning solution to dry too quickly, leaving streaks behind.
  1. Remove Dust and Debris:

    • Before applying any cleaner, use a dry microfiber cloth, soft brush attachment on a vacuum, or pre-rinse to remove dust, cobwebs, and loose dirt from the glass and window surroundings.
  1. Prepare Your Cleaning Solution:
    • Mix your chosen window cleaner with water according to the manufacturer’s instructions. For interior janitorial type and automotive cleaning, use a quality glass and window cleaner such as Glass Brite Glass Cleaner | ITD (  which is strong enough to remove soils, smoke, grease, etc., and formulated not to streak.
  1. Apply the Cleaner:
    • Spray, wipe, or squeegee your cleaning solution onto the window.
    • Allow the solution to dwell briefly, but not long enough to dry.
    • For exterior windows on buildings, add a soft wash rinse aid to your bleach mix, like Ready Rinse – ITD (  to drastically help minimize haze and residue on glass.
  1. Use the Squeegee:
    • After the cleaning solution has sat, use a squeegee to remove the solution from the glass.
    • Whether you prefer top to bottom, or left to right, glide the squeegee in a straight, smooth motion. Wipe the blade with a clean, dry microfiber cloth after each pass to avoid streaks.
    • Continue squeegeeing the whole window, overlapping each stroke by an inch or two to ensure all areas are covered.
  1. Dry and Polish:
    • Use a fresh microfiber cloth to dry the edges and any remaining moisture on the glass. Polish in circular motions to remove any streaks or water spots.
  1. Clean the Frames and Sills:
    • Don’t forget to wipe down the window frames and sills with a separate cloth dampened with your cleaning solution. Clean frames and sills contribute to the overall cleanliness and appearance of your windows.

With the right tools and techniques, you can consistently achieve sparkling, streak-free windows that impress and minimize follow-up visits.
